Flat Rock NC 07/28-07/31 2019

We wanted to stay in Flat Rock for a week but Lakewood RV Park only had 4 nights available.  So we made the most of the 4 days we had.  We love this area which is in the Blue Ridge Mountains at about 2000 feet elevation - just 30 miles south of Asheville.  The weather always seems to be comfortable even though still a bit humid compared to the western states.  We love it when thunderstorms come by in the afternoon offering a little sprinkle of rain or sometimes a giant downpour.  Linda and I have always said that we could easily live here.

One of our favorite things in Flat Rock is taking the dogs for a walk at a wonderful park converted from an old golf course.  We walk around the perimeter trail which is just over a mile and 1/2.  It is all level and mostly shaded.  There are also good places where the doggies can stop and cool off in the creek.
We loved this fountain with a doggy fountain and bottle filler!

We also got to spend some time with Linda's sister Kathy and her husband Bill who live in Hendersonville.  They were super hosts.  They had us over for dinner a couple of evenings and took us to their country club for lunch.  We also went to a place called 2 Guys Pizza and Ribs.  But forget the pizza - They had the best ribs we have ever had!  And the owner was a very nice lady who gives everybody hugs!

The city of Hendersonville has a great tradition called Bearfootin’ Public Art Walk.  Bear statues are decorated and displayed on Main Street and then auctioned off for charity.  Here are some of the wonderful bears we saw.
