Glacier National Park 07/03-07/05 2019

This place was on our "Bucket List" and we were so happy to finally get here!  It was absolutely beautiful and, as always, these pictures do not capture the real grandeur of the place.  Our only disappointment, if there was any, was that we did not see any wildlife.  Well, a couple of deer, but we see those all the time.  We really wanted to see some mountain goats or bighorn sheep.  Something more unique to the area - even a bear would have been good although that can be a bit scary.  These pictures are from our drive up the Going-To-The-Sun Road, which goes from West Glacier where we camped all the way over to the other side of the continental divide in St. Mary's.  We only went to Logan Pass which it at the continental divide.  It was a bit crowded and we could not find any parking at the top.  This is not unusual, I guess and it may be the reason we did not see more wildlife.

We took the doggies with us and I think they enjoyed it for the most part. Priscilla performed her usual "barf and then eat it" routine before the road even got very winding.  We didn't even notice until Pablo tried to crawl into the front seat.  He is such a sissy!  Eeeeww! Barf!  Get me outta here!

Our timing was good.  We went on July 4th and there were plenty of people on the road but there was no line at all to get in the park.  When we were leaving on July 5th the line went completely out to the main highway and then for as far as we could see down the highway!

(NOTE: if you are over 62 you can get a Senior Pass that will get you in to all National Parks for free and 50% off camping.  Linda got hers a few years ago and it was only $10 or so but now they are around $80.  Still very worthwhile).

Really cool touring cars

Picnic Lunch. It was great but we were constantly interrupted with people wanting to meet the dogs!

My selfie skills are improving!

We really lucked out on the RV Park we stayed in.  West Glacier RV Park opened on July 1st.  We arrived on July 3rd.  I believe that is the only reason I was able to book a site for the Holiday.  All other parks were completely booked.  They really did well with this place.  All the sites are either 60 or 80 feet long.  Plenty of room for big rigs.  The whole park is on an extremely flat piece of land.  Our site was so level that when I pulled in the leveler bubble was dead center without any leveling!  Of course everything was brand new and in excellent condition and the people were super friendly.  The location was perfect - located right outside the gate to Glacier National Park.
