Gig Harbor WA 06/28-07/01 2019

As we said in our last post, we came into Gig Harbor RV Resort a day early so we were here a total of 4 nights.  It was a nice park even though I think we got the narrowest spot in the whole place.  Also no satellite (again), but the cell signal was OK.  The grounds were beautiful and Priscilla liked all the little bunnies running around!  Here is a picture of our site:

Most of our time here was spent visiting family.  We made a trip over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to Lakewood and saw my nephew, Dennis and his wife, Monique.  It also happened that my big sister, Sharon, was there visiting so we got to see her as well!  They took us to lunch at the Tacoma Waterfront and we had a great time catching up with each other.  Here is a selfie of all of us taken by Sydney the Selfie-Master!

We couldn't beleive it was already two weeks since we started our trip, but it was time for the granddaughters to get on a plane and go home.  They have another trip planned to go with their parents to Yellowstone so I guess we had to let them go!  We had so much fun with them and it went so fast.  We will miss them very much but it is also good to get back to our regular diets and gain a little space in the coach!  We did get them delivered to the Sea-Tac airport, but it pretty much took the better part of the day on Saturday.  Wow!  Seattle has some traffic and it seems like construction is everywhere.

Sunday was a day to get re-organized and clean up after the girls left.  We did, however, squeeze in a visit with my cousin, Cookie and her husband, Dean.  They live right in Gig Harbor but they were also busy preparing for their huge 4th of July party (they buy their fireworks on pallets!).  We were so glad they had time to come over and take us to lunch down at the harbor.  We went to a delightful place right on the harbor called The Tides Tavern.  We had a wonderful lunch and caught up on each others lives after not seeing each other for over 10 years.  I had actually not seen Dean since we were in high school!  It was a wonderful visit and I'm so glad we got to connect again. Here is a picture of us on the dock at The Tides:

I have to say that Gig Harbor is really a beautiful place and, as with almost everywhere we go, I wish we had more time to spend there.  It was a little frustrating/confusing to drive around town as it is nothing but huge trees and traffic circles!  There are no signs anywhere to let you know where a store might be.  I guess the locals just know!  We were able to bungle our way around and find the places we were looking for but it was definitely a challenge.
