Denver CO

We have had a delightful 2 weeks here in Denver.  This was the final destination for our trip with Sydney and she flew home to her parents from here last week.  Although I was working, Linda and Sydney made the most of the couple days she had here before she left for home.  They went to the Museum of Nature and Science one day and to the Denver Zoo the next.  We also went to see the movie "Jurassic World" one evening.  Saw it in 3D and it was really much better than I expected.  Sydney only had to hide her eyes a couple of times!

One of the absolute best things about visiting Denver is getting to see our BFFs Jim and Terri Hantke.  Jim and I were classmates while learning Chinese at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey way back when.  We became close friends there and in San Angelo while attending more training and then on to Okinawa where we flew many missions together.  Jim stayed in the Air Force and retired while I got out to make my way in the civilian world and we lost track of each other for years.  Then, thanks to the internet, we reconnected a number of years ago and we now take very opportunity to see each other.

Jim got us the most fantastical club level seats for a Rockies game at Coors Field one night.  Unfortunately, Terri got stuck working late but Jim's grandson took her place.  There was a two hour rain delay but we had some yummy giant hot dogs while we waited.  They also had one of my favorites - tater tots!  These ones were "loaded" with cheese, bacon and sour cream.  Oh so evil and so good!  We couldn't stay for the whole game since it started so late, but it was a blast and just spending time with Jim and his grandson was a real treat!

Tarps on!  Tarps off!  Come on!  Let's play ball!
While our schedules didn't mesh perfectly, we still got together several times while we were here and had some good quality time with both Jim and Terri.  We can't wait until we get back here again.  We are also trying to persuade them to get an RV and hit the road with us!  We will keep bugging them and see if we can get Terri to retire and become at least a semi full-timer!

Seems we have a lot of California friends that have moved to Colorado too.  We didn't manage to get together with Tammy Dukas but we did get a chance to visit PJ Harrison at her home in Parker.  She and her husband, Jim and daughter, Katie are so sweet and were wonderful hosts.  We also got to smooch her puppies and that is always a real bonus!

Heading east tomorrow morning.  We will spend a week in Kansas City, Branson Missouri, Nashville Tennessee, and then finally a couple of weeks in Asheville and Flatrock NC before we finally make it to Durham.
